Welcome to the James Bryan Creech Public Library website. There are always new things happening here even though we're only open a few days a week.
Our library hours are:
This summer, we are challenging our adults to read! We have a list of challenges. For each one you fulfill, your name goes in a drawing for prizes. You can use one book for more than one challenge and there is no specific requirement for what kind of book. For example, some Dr. Seuss books have been banned and turned into a movie. That one book will work for two weeks. Bonus points if you read that book to some children!
This is supposed to be fun! Take part in the weeks you want to and there is no time limit for each challenge. Just turn these in before August 26 so we can determine the winners! We will update these as we can. Our facebook page is updated in real time!
Adult Summer Challenge
1. Read a banned book!
2. Read a book that takes place during Christmas!
3. Read a book that became a movie!
4. Read a book over 100 years old!
5. Read a book that became a tv show or play!
6. Read a mystery or a thriller!
More to come!
I have a couple of things to share today!
We are excited to announce that we have now switched over to our new computer system, Cardinal. Our patrons are going to LOVE it! You will have access to not only the items in the Johnston County libraries, but you will also be able to access a state wide library system that includes 117 other libraries. I will be posting tips and tricks for you as soon as we have them. Our catalog link has already been updated. If you have questions, call or email us at email@example.com.
We are hosting a movie night in collaboration with Johnston County Mental Health on June 2. "Inside Out" will start at 6pm. We will provide popcorn and cool aid!
The Summer Reading Program starts June 15. Come by the library to sign up so we will know how many to expect. It will be helpful but isn't mandatory. We also have a reading contest this summer. We will begin to give out the forms June 15. For more information, call or email!
I'm going to share a not so well kept secret. Our library will be open on Christmas Eve until 3pm. "Why?" you ask. Well, Katie, Lynn, and I have found quite a few people that don't have family to celebrate with and didn't have anywhere special to go for the Christmas Holiday. We decided to share some of our Christmas cookies and coffee or hot chocolate with the wonderful people in our town. If you aren't busy on Christmas eve this year, stop in the library and share a cup of coffee and a cookie or two! We'll be there from 10am to 3pm. Merry Christmas to all of you!
EBOOKS are finally here! The James Bryan Creech Public Library will be celebrating the grand opening of our ebook library on Friday May 23! Come join the party and find out how to use the 3M Cloud Library on your device. There's an app for that! You will need to have a library card that is in good standing to download books. Come by on Friday at 2pm and join us to celebrate this milestone for our library system! You will find the PC App on each of our computers in our library if you need to use it to transfer books to your ereader. Call at 919-963-6013 or come by the library for more information. There is a link to our tutorials in the left column. I will be adding more graphics to make it easier.
The 3M Cloud Library automatically syncs to all your devices that have the 3M Cloud Library App downloaded to them. You can start reading on your iPad and continue later while waiting some where and reading from your phone - right where you've left off.

We have a new sign in front of our library!! Many thanks to Horizon Family Medicine and Lee's Signs for their generous donation. It looks GREAT!!
A Special Note from Tonie
I just wanted to say thanks to all of our great patrons! We had so many of you visit us in the month of July that our library was almost always filled. We also have stacks of new books thanks to your generosity. I also want to say "Thanks" to all the volunteers that made it possible to keep things running. I could not have done it without you!
I had a great time at the Acorn Festival! It was so much fun getting out and telling people about our library and the programs we offer!
